The wait is over: Phoenix youngsters have played their first official match. Even though the game took place about a year and a half after their first practice session, today may be considered the team's genuine day of birth.
There is always a first time. Phoenix-2013 had an eventful day today in terms of the ‘firsts’.
There was the first goal, scored in an official match by Dickson Brou.
There was the first hat-trick by Danylo Shevchenko.
There was the first successful match. Let us remind you, the team has not yet won any friendly matches.
There was the first official rival, the one, we are certain, we will develop long-term friendly relations with.
There was the first shoot-out and the first near save by Kyrylo Kruhoviy, who played beyond all praise between the goal posts.
There was the first skipper – Andrii Shevchenko (as amazing as that!) and the first pennant handed by the skipper.
There was the first goal scored by Yehor Ulko, who is a year younger than his other teammates, just like Andrii Shevchenko. That was the goal he had promised to score at the most recent pre-game practice session on Friday.
There was the first official ‘Go-go Phoenix’ for the boys.
There were the first figures on the game page of the FC website, the photos and the video of the ‘real’ game.
It was the first time the players of the older team were the fans.
There were the first serious spectators – 108 people observed the match of Phoenix and Sever Academy Sports School-1! Those were the first spectators of the youngsters whom the guys presented with real outstanding football. That was a truly sincere, passionate and exciting game.
Both teams, who made their first official appearance today, will, for sure, face a number of victories and defeats. We know and remember that.
The first game, however, is something to remember forever. That is the game that became a starting point on the long path of Phoenix 2013, the team that was born today.
