Lazeba the Fabulous and Dudin with a Drum

In a dramatic match Phoenix defeats the overdog of the qualifying group of the Championship of Ukraine - Valki DYSSh!

To say that the team had a good match is to say nothing. The boys held it as the main match of their lives - in a desperate, bold, skillful and passionate manner. The team lived an hour of play time as if it was a minute and made quite a splash - too powerful and cool Viktor Detyuk's team of 2005 looks.

It is especially delightful that Phoenix played as favorite, rather than playing defense first, they attacked a lot and in variations, and there were no dropouts in both fours.

All three pivots did brilliantly - Artem Shevchenko, Maksym Dolhulia and Oleksandr Bezruk. The latter did his best game this season. Danylo Boldyzhev, Daniil Dudin and Ivan Konkov looked highly reliable and confident in the rear.

From the very first minutes the team was led into the battle by an impressive support group (it was greatly missed yesterday), and when in the midst of the first half, Dmytro Dudin, who had come rushing to the match from Kharkiv, entered the hall with a drum, the spirits were simply soaring.

It is hard to describe what Volodymyr Lazeba was doing on the pitch that day! If the goalkeepers were judged by the level of play, his level today would be 'God'! The goalie saved it all, and the Valki team delivered nearly three dozen shots on our goal, some of which were impossible to tackle. It is no coincidence that after the final whistle, the boys rushed to swing their keeper!

At the end of the match, when with our narrow lead the pressure at the Lazeba's goalmouth became too great, the keeper threw a marvelous shot at Artem Shevchenko, who scored a ball with a great chip shot, which the organizers called the best shot in the tournament at the time. Phoenix held one of the best matches in its history. And tomorrow, in the final day of the third round, the teams will play again. We believe, the game will be as cool as, in fact, all our meetings with the Valkovians!
